Description

Saturday morning rain, wet tyres, drivers who have not seen a greasy track for a while and a full grid, recipe for disaster in theory but some good driving and avoidance seemed to be th eorder of the day and other than Camerons discovery that the braking point was not th esame place as last week in turn 3 he stayed on th etrack in both wet sessions.

We struggled finding a setup in the damp and then as it dried we were clearly going the wrong way but eventually in the final two sessions the work started to pay off and times started to tumble to acceptable levels.

Sunday morning, clear skies, 16 degrees and new tyres were the order of the day. Heat one with a starting position of 15th seemed to catch Cameron asleep and after falling back to 26th a second half recovery saw him fight back to 20th place and wokehim up.

Heat 2 was a 22nd grid and the race was decided by 2 incendents that although neither involved Cameron both times lost him multiple places he had fought hard to gain, ending up 19th was very respectable considering he had actually stopped on the track twice to avoide the carnage.

Heat 3 was awsome, grid 2, great start and after 2 laps still in P2 was by far the best start to a race in his short career so far  (race 2 in jnr max) and then with battle after battle to finish in 8th was a fantastic achievement and one we were all very proud of.

This gave a grid of 17th for the final. Not the best place to start but a good start and a run around the outside at the top of the hill saw him emerge in 11th but with several unfair bumps to push him out of the way rather than overtake him saw a very good finish in 16th place with a laptime in the final of 47.31. The end of the day really showed him that its time to build some strength and some more stamina as the weight of the junior kart and the increased intensity and power of the racing is certainly much greater than his previous experience.

Another very good weeked, well done.

We have awning space available at Kimbolton and Shennington in May as well as the Brazilian cup at Whilton, good deals available, call 07815756855 for more details.
