Description

We are hoping that Kimbolton was a milestone in the driving career of Cameron, after being one of the fastest on Saturday and holding is own in very good company he then took massive strides on Sunday with a very comfortable 2nd place in the 3rd heat nearly 4 seconds ahead of 3rd and then a battling 7th in the final after a starting grid of 13th.

Saturdays practice was warm and on worn tyres we were looking to leaning track 2 that we had not run before. The morning was tough with times around the 47.5 mark, a normal midfield time based on my stopwatch, but then after the intervention of Jonathan during the lunch break and another track walk we got down to a 47 flat by the end of the day, very respectable and in the top 10 for sure.

Sunday morning saw Cameron's worst side with a fear of Kim's first corner forcing him to the back of both heats with finishes 16th and 18th after starts in 12th and 21st but then the turning point, a first ever pole position draw in the 3rd heat meant he had no choice but charge at the corner or be the cause and centre of another big first corner crash. To his credit he attacked the first corner as he should after Pani S made a better start from row 2 and had already passed him before the braking zone. He was mighty around turns 1 and 2 fending off the Sodi Kart of 54 and then set lap after lap of amazing pace to follow rather than chase Pani and pull away to the full length of the straight before the flag. A great performance that lead to his first visit to the Park Ferme and a smile bigger than his helmet.

The final was an inside start with 13th and the confidence gained from teh last heat was more than visible, some great moves and some massive speed gave him a best rolling lap below 46.8 (one of the fastest laps of the entire weekend by anyone) and a well deserved 7th place.

BRING ON THE NEXT RACE!
